The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus

Film Appearance0 Comments

Waits plays the devil, Mr. Nick, in Terry Gilliam’s The Imaginarium of  Doctor Parnassus, a role that Gilliam says he was “born to play.”  Doctor Parnassus and his sideshow troupe promise their audience a trip to “The Imaginarium,” where dreams come true. He pledges to give his daughter Valentina to the devil on her 16th birthday, in return for loving a mortal woman. The time is near and they work to save her from her fate. Co-starring Christopher Plummer, Lily Cole, Heath Ledger, Johnny Depp, Jude Law, and Colin Farrell.

Gilliam and I met on Fisher King. He is a giant among men and I am in awe of his films. [The Adventures of Baron] Munchausen I’ve seen a hundred times. Brazil is a crowning achievement. Brothers Grimm was my favorite film last year. I had most of my scenes with Christopher Plummer (He’s Dr. Parnassus). Plummer is one of the greatest actors on earth! Mostly I watch and learn. He’s a real movie star and a gentleman. Gilliam is an impresario, captain, magician, a dictator (a nice one), a genius, and a man you’d want in the boat with you at the end of the world.

The Rebound

Zeta-Jones plays Sandy in the romantic comedy The Rebound. After finding her husband’s sex-tape with another woman, Sandy moves to an apartment in the city. Her new neighbor has recently separated from his wife as well, and the two hit it off. As things get serious, they question if their feelings are true, or if each of them are just rebounds from their failed marriages. Co-starring Justin Bartha.

I’ve been looking for a while for a comedy. I love comedy, I always love when I have a chance to do some comedy. Not that I can tell a joke beginning to end, but if the writing’s one the page, I always enjoy that.

Conrad is a guest judge on cycle 13 of America’s Next Top Model. Conrad is only signed on the judges panel for one show in the contest series and said she might considered hosting a show of her own in the future.

I wouldn’t do a show like The Hills. Nothing with my personal life, but possibly something hosting. I think I have a little bit of time to figure out what I’m going to do next.

She (Shasta) is a very normal girl. She is a high school student graduating, but she is really spunky and kind of larger than life and she’s a huge flirt. That’s not really me in real life so it was fun to get to do.

Whiteout

Beckinsale plays Carrie Stetko, a U.S. marshal assigned to a desolate research base on the Antarctica. Days before Stetko’s retirement, members of the research team are mysteriously murdered. With an impending storm and months of darkness setting in, the marshal is in a chilling race against time to find the killer.

I have been surprised by the fact that I’m able to do these kind of roles, because it’s not how I’m really like in real life. And it certainly wasn’t what I ever anticipated when I decided to become an actress.
